The Company
The Morning Star Company and its affiliates operate three tomato processing facilities in Central California, processing over 1/3 of the California processing tomato crop, in addition to tomato transplanting, farming, harvesting and trucking operations. The company employs over 500 year-round and approximately 2,000 seasonal Colleagues.
The Morning Star Company is the largest independent producer of bulk tomato ingredient products (tomato paste and diced tomatoes) in the world. We also produce canned tomatoes, tomato products and specialty sauces in pouches for customers in the retail and food service markets. The company is known worldwide for its innovation and integrity.

Primary Responsibilities:
Parts Department:
- Oversee the ordering, receiving, and storage of parts and supplies.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure stock levels are adequate to meet demand.
- Conduct regular physical inventories and reconcile discrepancies.
- Maintain customer goodwill by greeting and acknowledging all customers & vendors.
- Assume responsibility to keep parts department clean and orderly.
- Verify and record all sales and/or transactions.
- Timely provide mechanics with parts as required.
- Control parts room inventory to ensure correct items on hand when needed.
- Maintain all parts in parts tracking system - accurately and timely.
- Periodic inventory audits (no less than quarterly) to ensure that inventory is accurate, and all parts usage is being accounted for.
- Knowledge of parts needed to plant and harvest tomatoes is a plus
- Process purchase orders and ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.
- Track orders and manage backorders to minimize delays.
- Anticipate parts requirements throughout the year (transplant season, harvest season, and overhaul) and identify long-lead time parts – coordinate inventory and ordering strategy with group leaders.
- Follow up on all shortages.
- Regular reporting (at least monthly) to group leaders on parts usage and R&M costs –per machine.
- Analyze inventory data to identify trends, forecast demand, and optimize stock levels.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors to achieve cost savings.
- Treat customers fairly and with honesty and demonstrate our excellence through commitment and ethical business practices.
- Requires the use of both hands.
- Frequently required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, handle tools and lift more than 80 lbs.

- Parts are not permitted to stay on the ground for more than 4 hours in receiving area.
- 100% time spent in parts room to ensure parts room mission is being accomplished.
- Around the clock coverage during the harvest season (24/7) must be flexible to work nights and weekends as per an agreed upon schedule.
- Take on new responsibilities that are reasonable and necessary for the effective operation of the Cal-Sun parts department.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Ability to effectively listen.
- Basic computer skills.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Good organizational skills.
- Clean DMV record.
- Off-season - M-F 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- During season (July - October, generally) – 12 hours shifts as needed, 6 days per week.
