The Role

We are looking for a senior engineering leader to provide technical and delivery oversight across two key areas: Contact Centre Transformation and Personalisation.

This is an interim cover role for a few months, focused on providing stability, supporting the engineering teams and two new Engineering Managers, maintaining delivery momentum, and ensuring a smooth handover to the permanent replacement.

There is no line management responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior technical leadership across Contact Centre Transformation and Personalisation.
  • Quickly understand the technology landscape, programmes, teams, suppliers and key risks.
  • Provide technical oversight across a complex, third-party and partner-led delivery environment.
  • Support two new Engineering Managers, providing senior-level guidance and air cover.
  • Maintain delivery momentum, resolve technical blockers and manage dependencies.
  • Ensure technical decisions and engineering direction remain aligned to business and customer objectives.
  • Work closely with product, architecture, delivery and external partners.
  • Prepare a clear and effective handover for the permanent engineering leader.

About You

  • Head of Engineering / Engineering Director-level experience.
  • Strong track record leading engineering in complex digital environments.
  • Able to get up to speed quickly and operate effectively in an interim capacity.
  • Strong technical judgement and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable working across internal teams, third parties and large delivery partners.
  • Pragmatic, confident and delivery-focused.
  • Experience in large-scale retail or similarly complex customer environments would be advantageous.
