We are seeking a senior engineering leader to support the evolution of SAP platforms across HR and Finance, with a focus on the technical architecture, stability and modernisation of the SAP estate.

This role will focus on the technical foundations of SAP including platform engineering, integration and system design, working alongside Product teams who own business process design. The role will also contribute to longer term transformation initiatives, including potential migration towards S4.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical leadership across SAP platforms supporting HR and Finance domains
• Own and guide the technical architecture of the SAP estate, including Basis, ABAP environments and system configuration
• Ensure the reliability, performance and scalability of SAP platforms across on premise and cloud hosted environments
• Support the evolution of SAP landscapes, including system upgrades, patching and operational improvements
• Work closely with Product and functional teams who define business processes, providing technical input and constraints
• Lead and shape integration patterns between SAP and surrounding systems, including middleware and service based architectures
• Contribute to SAP decoupling strategies where appropriate, enabling more flexible and modular platforms
• Collaborate with third party vendors and internal teams to ensure high quality delivery and operational support
• Drive improvements in engineering practices including deployment frequency, automation and security compliance
• Support wider platform modernisation initiatives, including alignment with cloud and emerging technologies

Experience and Skills

• Significant experience working with SAP from a technical perspective in large scale enterprise environments
• Deep expertise in SAP Basis, ABAP and system configuration, with a strong understanding of how SAP platforms are built, run and optimised
• Experience managing or supporting SAP landscapes, including on premise environments and hosted platforms
• Strong understanding of SAP tooling such as Solution Manager and related operational frameworks
• Experience working on SAP transformation or upgrade programmes, with S4 migration exposure considered beneficial
• Solid understanding of integration patterns between SAP and external systems
• Experience working with third party vendors and operational support teams
• Strong problem solving skills with the ability to operate across complex, interconnected systems
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non technical stakeholders

Nice to have

• Experience supporting or contributing to SAP ECC to S4 migration programmes
• Exposure to cloud platforms and hybrid SAP environments
• Experience modernising SAP centric architectures through APIs or event driven approaches
• Experience improving operational maturity, including monitoring, observability and automation
• Background in retail or similarly complex, high scale organisations
