Technical Grid Consultant, Germany

We are excited to be hiring a Technical Grid Consultant with strong experience in German grid connection processes and electrical systems for renewable energy and battery storage projects. This role is based in Germany. Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in Germany. You will join a growing and dynamic international team across the UK, France, Spain, Italy, and Portugal. Everoze has been active in the German market since 2018 and is now establishing a permanent local presence.

This is a unique opportunity to shape scaling our German business at a pivotal moment in the energy transition. You will help build and expand our presence locally, supported by an established team of ~90 consultants across Europe, including various German-speaking colleagues. You will work closely with our international team and also contribute to projects across Europe. You will have the opportunity to travel to our other offices to learn how we roll at Everoze. We are looking for motivated, experienced consultants who are willing to take on responsibility and help us build in Germany.

Salary: A competitive salary related to your experience, plus pension scheme, annual profit share and route into company ownership.

Location: Germany (hybrid working possible).

We plan to establish a permanent office, with location influenced by where our senior hires are best placed to grow the team. Preferred hubs include Hamburg, Frankfurt, Berlin and Freiburg, though we remain open to other locations where the right candidate can thrive.

Hours: Healthy level of flexible working arrangements. Full-time preferred; and will consider candidates who prefer part-time options.

Your role

You will mainly deliver grid consultancy services to project developers, investors, lenders, and operators across energy storage, solar and wind projects. Within a multi-technology team, you will contribute to due diligence assignments and broader project support, with a focus on the German market while supporting projects across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Technical Due Diligence:
  • Review grid documentation including grid connection offers, connection agreements, and curtailment studies;
  • Review other technical documents and studies as part of technical due diligence / project support;
  • (curtailment / ANM, load flow, loss calculations, compliance studies)
• Project support:
  • Support grid origination and project development
  • Provide owner’s engineering services: for example review and adaptation of Employer’s Requirement’s (ER’s), especially key grid/electrical sections for the German market, and review of grid compliance tests reviews
  • Conduct grid-related design review, including grid interface, metering and compliance-related documents
• Site visits:
  • Participate in testing, construction monitoring, quality control, and stakeholder interface
• Business development:
  • Support expansion into German and where possible other new markets, new client groups and new service offerings;
  • Monitor regulatory developments in grid connection and market design
• Project management:
  • Manage multiple projects, coordinate internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

• Experience
  • Strong understanding of German grid connection and permitting processes (DSO/TSO level)
  • Experience with renewable energy and/or energy storage projects
  • of grid compliance processes from design through commissioning
  • Experience interpreting curtailment/Redispatch studies
  • Degree in electrical engineering or similar (or equivalent experience)
• Skills
  • Strong analytical and report-writing skills (English)
  • Ability to review complex technical documentation in German (native preferred)
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-specialists
  • Capability to identify and quantify technical and commercial risks
  • Experience reviewing electrical designs (SLDs, protection schemes, specifications)
• Languages
  • Fluent German and English required
  • Additional languages (Italian, Spanish, French) are advantageous

• Experience mentoring or training colleagues on grid topics and/or electrical engineering

• Experience of grid curtailment and constraint modelling
• Experience of managing subcontractors
• High-level knowledge of international grid standards and practices
• Experience in other European markets
