Senior Consultant: Wind resource and energy assessment

We’re excited to be hiring an experienced wind consultant working primarily in the UK and European offshore and onshore wind sector.

This role is more than an analyst position. The successful candidate is expected to help shape and lead Everoze’s offering in the energy analysis space, working with our due diligence and project development consultants as well as our Partner Brightwind. This is an experienced consultant role, but we are willing to consider more junior consultants with exceptional track record and potential.

Salary: Competitive salary dependent on experience, pension scheme, annual profit share and route into company ownership

Location: UK (Bristol, Glasgow, Brighton or Fife office) with hybrid remote working. We’re also interested to hear from candidates based in Dublin and Paris

Hours: Normal office hours with a healthy level of flexibility. Preference for 5 days per week but encourage people who would prefer part-time to apply (minimum 3 days per week)

Deadline for applications: 15th September 2024

Everoze is different

We’re more than just a technical and commercial consultancy, specialising in renewables, storage, green hydrogen and wider energy flexibility. We live our values. We’re passionate about accelerating the transition to a decarbonised energy system. We have no bosses or formal hierarchy. We are free to pursue opportunities that deliver our strategy. We take ownership of our own development and support one another along the way. Our pay is transparent and set by our peers. We, the employees, own the company and we share a portion of our profits equally. We believe that a strong and healthy work life needs a strong and healthy home life. We encourage flexible working practices for all to be there for the kids’ swim lessons, a favourite hobby, or learning new skills.

We’re OK with being different. Everoze isn’t for everyone. But it might just be for you… Find out more here.

What you will be doing

You will provide consultancy services to offshore and onshore wind project developers, operators, lenders or investors in the UK and across Europe, with work in other markets as required.

As well as consultancy work, it is expected that you will work closely with our Bristol and Paris based energy analysis teams as well as our Partners BrightWind, with whom we work closely in delivering work. This role may in time lead to a board position (or board exposure) and there is significant scope to help shape and lead our wind energy analysis strategy.

Everoze works across multiple technologies and there is potential to specialize in your areas of interest or broaden your expertise into different technologies and/or markets: we encourage you to take ownership of your career and to work cross-technology in our domains of interest.

Specific activities will include

  • Using experience of conducting energy yield assessments and site conditions assessments to advise clients in transactions;
  • Conducting wind resource and energy production assessments for both planned and operational onshore and offshore wind farms (or portfolios of wind farms) – both as a project manager and in supporting roles; this will include site visits, wind data checking and processing, statistical and long-term analysis, wind flow modelling, wake modelling, assessment of energy losses, and uncertainty analysis;
  • Undertaking site conditions assessments which include elements of the above but also consideration of extreme wind speed, ambient and wake induced turbulence intensity, wind shear, and other meteorological parameters;
  • Reviewing operational project data and O&M reports and in combination with techniques derived from the above, assess future energy production of the wind farm or of extensions to the wind farm;
  • Review of energy analysis by 3rd parties;
  • Working closely with our Partners BrightWind in aligning methodologies, coordination of projects and development of business strategy;
  • Developing our tools and methods to bring continuous improvements to the accuracy and efficiency of our work;
  • Supporting and gaining exposure to Everoze other core activities, in Due Diligence on Demand, and strategic advice;
  • Carrying-out business development to build client relationships and win work;
  • Ownership of budget and profitability of projects;
  • Managing multiple projects utilising internal and external resources.

We would like to hear from you if you meet the following requirements

Ethos

  • You share our core beliefs of entrepreneurship, partnership and quality;
  • You are excited to work in an open non-hierarchical environment;
  • You are self-motivated and will take advantage of the autonomy to shape your own career;
  • You want to use your skills to change our energy system for the better.

Essential skills and qualifications

  • Technical degree or equivalent qualifications;
  • More than 3 years of experience in performing preconstruction wind resource and energy production assessments, including offshore projects;
  • Experience with preconstruction wind resource and energy production measurements, tools, software and methodologies;
  • Able to develop tools in Excel, SQL, Python, or MATLAB;
  • Experience in the commercial aspects of projects including contracts and budgets;
  • Capable of determining commercial implications of technical risks.

Soft skills

  • Comfortable working on projects with evolving scopes, in the context of competing priorities and managing client deadlines;
  • Capable of determining commercial implications of technical risks;
  • Track record of developing and building lasting client relationships; and
  • Able to write clear, concise and accurate reports in English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional language skills;
  • Track record in the offshore and onshore wind market in the UK and Europe;
  • Strong network with developers or lenders in the UK and European markets;
  • Experience of due diligence.

We understand that some great applicants may not excel across all the above criteria. We are willing to support people who have a great fit with the Everoze culture, who are passionate about what we do, and who have great strengths in a sub-set of the above fields. If you love the role and can demonstrate your ability to apply your strengths and adapt to new fields, we encourage you to apply.

Everoze embraces diversity and equal opportunity. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives and skills. For this reason we only accept applications through the BeApplied platform which is designed to avoid unconscious bias. You will be asked to answer 3-5 short questions designed to give you the opportunity to demonstrate the core skills we are looking for.
