QA Engineer 1, Electronic Assembly

Epoch International has an opening for a full-time Electronic Assembly QA Engineer in its San Jose, CA facility.

Epoch International is a high-tech design and contract manufacturing services company with facilities in Dalian China, Bangalore India, and San Jose CA US.

General Summary

The Quality Engineer develops and manages quality systems and controls to ensure the high quality and customer satisfaction of new and existing customer-specified products, as well as their compliance with specified regulations and standards.

Help determine solutions to electronic assembly problems. This may involve working with teams located in our other facilities.

Exercise judgment to determine or recommend appropriate corrective actions, and communicate the actions to company management and sometimes directly to customers.

Communicate and implement company-specified quality objectives.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for qualification activities for new and existing products. This involves, but is not limited to, stencil, machine program, inspection criteria reviews and approvals.
• Collaborate in the adoption of testing and inspection methodology and documentation for new and existing products per customer specifications.
• Assist in installation and maintain company-provided or approved QC process sampling systems, procedures, equipment, and statistical techniques.
• Recommend revisions of procedures and specifications when appropriate.
• Interface with other engineering departments within the company, customers, and suppliers on quality-related issues.
• Collaborate in the review of work instructions and procedures.
• Facilitate and perform internal audits, especially for annual ISO audits.
• Assure adherence to the Company’s Work Instructions (WIs) and Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global quality system regulations, standards, and procedures. Familiarity with IPC standards, such as IPC-600, IPC-610 is desired.
• Understand relevant security, privacy, and compliance principles and adhere to the regulations, standards, and procedures that apply to the Company.
• Ensure other members of the department follow the QMS, regulations, standards, and procedures.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned

Position Qualifications

Minimum education and experience:

• Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a Life Science, or a related field, with 2+ years of quality engineering or relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional qualifications:

• Familiarity with IPC-600, IPC-610, ISO, and other applicable standards, regulations, and laws desired
• Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment recommended, medical device industry helpful
• Experience with Electronic devices and or PCBAs
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to speak Mandarin is a plus.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Working Conditions

• General office, laboratory, and cleanroom environments
• Requires some lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to remain stationary and use a computer or other standard office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine, for an extensive period each day.
• Must be able to read, prepare emails, and produce documents and spreadsheets.
• Must be able to move within the office and access file cabinets or supplies, as needed.
• Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees at all levels daily.
