Love music and enjoy bringing people together? Chesham Beats is a weekly music therapy group for people with learning disabilities, autism or additional needs. The group provides a friendly, inclusive space to come together, make music, sing and enjoy shared musical experiences in a relaxed and supportive environment. Through shared musical experiences and creative activities, the group encourages communication, confidence and social connection. As a volunteer, you’ll help create a positive space where everyone can take part, express themselves and enjoy the benefits of making music together.

About the Role

We’re looking for a volunteer to support our Music Therapist to help create a safe, motivating and accessible environment where participants are encouraged to engage in a way that feels comfortable for them.

You will help set up and pack down for each session, assist our Music Therapist and interact and support the attendees.

What You’ll Do

  • Take part in inclusive group music-making with attendees
  • Help set up the space to make it comfortable and conducive to a good group music-making session
  • Help pack down after the session
  • Help create a calm, safe, and supportive atmosphere
  • Support attendees alongside the Music Therapist, responding sensitively to individual needs
